In 1997 the Air Jordan was released. This model was known for its upholstery designed by Tinker Hatfield (Nikes Designer). A black panther was the inspiration for Air Jordan 14 because the sole resembles the upholstery on the paw of a panther. Also the hologram on the back of the shoe, which should represent the eyes of a panther in the dark when it is irradiated with light.
They were released in 2005, at the same time as the publication of the Air Jordan 8S shoe.
