And the second legend comes into play: The color of the shoes designed by Peter Moore and colleagues broke with two NBA rules at that time: a minimum share of 51 percent white and the reflection of the team colors. The imposed fines of $ 5,000 per match paid Nike with pleasure for the non-intended advertising campaign-the immediate sale of the first edition demonstrated the power of the history, which in turn has not yet been proven. On the other hand, it was firmly stated that a new Sneaker generation was born.
The 85 model
Let's start the moving vita of Air Jordan 1 with a look at the starting model. What was unusual?
- It was tailored to Jordan's different foot lengths - and was still suitable for the mass market.
- The silhouette arched dramatically along the tension and ankle, the air -padded soles feathered basket jumps ideal: the name "Air" Jordan was born.
- The gray and white previously used to date gave way to a wild spectrum of double color. Not only could you have already chosen from thirteen from thirteen such as Royal Caroline Blue or Metallic Green, but also received a real unique: The first productions of the Air Jordan 1 extended to several factories, which is why the leather coloring varied from light to dark red .
- For the following years, Air Jordan 1 remained the only model with the famous Nike-Swoosh, which was soon replaced by a Wing and Jumpman logo.

Numbers and secrets
Do not confuse: Air Jordans have been numbered since 1986 - the number series has now arrived at 36! However, this quantity is carried out regardless of the sporadic releases of the slightly changed original in new color variants, shapes and materials. To this day, only Nike knows whether the "Ko" of his Air Jordan 1 Ajko stands for "Knock Off" or "Knock Out" ...
Air-Jordan-1 offspring
- 1994: The first reintroduction of Air Jordan 1 failed on the zeitgeist: Retro Out was still, the focus was on the latest Air Jordan models.
- 2001: But now! Nostalgia was a trend, this reissue was a complete success. Perhaps also because Nike has limited all color variants and individually identified shoe pairs. Material, pattern and fit and Swoosh were taken over from 1985.
- 2007: "Old Love, New Love" - the shoe came in a double pack with different color variants and a slightly adapted silhouette. A complete success!
- 2009: The “Defing Moment series” flopped: the leather was criticized as too smooth and hard.
- 2011: Again, the edition for the first Air Jordan 1 showed little changes. An effective strategy - the shoe was a new success.
- 2016: After 30 years, the “Remastered” new edition came into the shops above average high Jordan 1. But maybe it will be even better?
