The first shoe called "Nike Blazer" was launched in 1973. At the time, this was a basketball shoe. The company was still very young and did not bear the known and popular name "Nike".

At that time it was led under the name "Blue Ribbons Sports". It was founded in the USA and initially imported shoes from Japan.

Nike only started its own production in 1971. A graphic designer was commissioned to design a logo for the company. This resulted in today's Swoosh.

So it happened that Nike designed the Nike Blazer in 1973. To do this, a white shoe was simply taken and the Nike logo was placed on the sides. The fans loved the shoe for being so simple and simple. Today's highlights in the area of material, damping and processing did not exist at the time.

The Nike Blazer owes its name to a local basketball team. But these did not lead the shoe to their success. George "The Iceman" Gervin was the face of the blazer. The big logo was a good branding. With every game he noticed the shoe and the Swoosh.

The details of the Nike Blazer

The silhouette is still almost the original from 1973 today. The sole is still made of white rubber. On the outside and on the tip of the toe there is suede and thus creates a visible contrast to the rest of the shoe.

The logo and heel are kept in snake leather look. This has different tones. But animals did not die for that. It is created from different materials and still looks real. The tongue of the shoe is made of white foam. The logo is also embroidered on the heel.

The shoe itself is very subtle and narrow. The design is very interesting due to its simplicity. It has a slight padding on the inside and makes the shoe flexible and comfortable. The sole is quite thin. Nevertheless, the foot has sufficient stability.

What is the Nike Blazer suitable for

The Nike Blazer is ideal for daily use and is a great street shoe. The shoe is now available in many different colors. In addition, everyone can create their own Nike Blazer.

The shoe was originally developed as a basketball shoe. But the skater scene also quickly discovered him and their needs. There is the Nike Blazer in suede, canvas or completely in leather. So it gives the Nike Blazer a timeless and unique design with which every carrier stands out.

The new hype around the Nike Blazer

The Nike Blazer has existed for many years. For a while it was very quiet around the shoe. But then he kept showing up. First on social media and then you could see him more on the street. The shoe has had cult status since the 1970s.

The sneaker always had a comeback through many different collaborations: in 2002 and 2008 this was with the street style label Stussy, 2006 with Supreme and 2017 with the Off-White Label from Virgil Abloh. So the shoe was hyped again and again. The last collaboration was in summer 2019 with the Netflix hit Stranger Things.

Why do so many people want the Nike Blazer?

The Nike Blazer owes many collaborations to its reputation and hype. Virgil Alboh once again gave the shoe a big thrust forward, because his off white label is an absolute must-have in the fashion scene.

But it was also the variety of shoe of materials and colors that gave it again and again. Many people describe the shoe as an all -rounder because it fits perfectly with both casual leisure clothes and a suit. Many Nike Blazer carriers have known the shoe for many years and don't want to do without it in their repertoire.
